Miller Roofing won the £170,000 contract with management contractor, Heery International, for the re-roofing of the National Galleries building, so named after the original architect of the Royal Scottish Academy, Sir William Playfair. Challenges included the need to work within very confined spaces as well as the number of curved surfaces. The roofing membrane was installed without the need for naked flame. An adaptable insulation board, Duo-Rock was mechanically fixed to the existing structure and then the Sarnafil S System, also mechanically fixed.
Built just a stone's throw from Loch Lomond by Kier Scotland for CHAS, Miller Roofing was contracted to install exposed Sarnafil on the wave-formed roofs. The building was designed by Gareth Hoskins Architects.
Miller Roofing installed Sarnafil warm ballasted roofs on the award winning SAS Radisson Hotel on Glasgow's Argyle Street. The 250 bedroom, 4 star hotel was designed by Gordon Murray & Alan Dunlop Architects. Being a new build, there was a lot of plant and many different trades on site which required very careful co-ordination and management of the project.
A Sarnafil green roof system was installed by Miller Roofing on the newly built Komodo Dragon House at London Zoo. Instead of being planted the natural habitat was taken from the building footprint before the foundations were laid and this was later laid out and incorporated into the 'green' roof system to create a biodiverse roof.
