Refurbishment of existing roofs
Client - National Galleries of Scotland
Multi million pound art treasures were on show inside the building which remained open to the public throughout our works.
The building is a category A listed building and a large number of complex detailing issues arose due to the shape of the stonework features at roof level. In addition, much of the natural light for the art exhibits was provided by major architectural glazed units on the roof.
Our operatives were in weekly contact with Sarnafil U.K. Technical Department to discuss and resolve detailing issues.
The client was delighted with the workmanship and there was no disruption to the working of the Galleries throughout the project.
This project won the top award at the N.F.R.C. annual awards ceremony

Contractor designed Kalzip standing seam roofing including gutters, eaves, verges, fascia and soffit flashings.
The sub-contract was carried out for Interserve Ltd and, although there were some co-ordination difficulties, the roof was completed successfully.
Refurbishment of roofs on existing school
Client - Inverclyde Council
All the roofs on this school were overlaid with a new Sarnafil single ply roofing specification following detailed investigation of the condition of the existing roofs.
We were Principal Contractor and all the work took place while the school carried on operations. Co-ordination of our works with school activities was achieved through regular meetings with the janitor and staff representatives.
New roof project
Client - Balfour Beatty Construction Ltd
A new build hospital by Balfour Beatty Ltd to serve the South side of Glasgow.
Our package included Sarnafil P.V.C. membrane roofing with cut-to-falls insulation on concrete decks (approx 10,000 sq m), Kalzip 65/500 standing seam roofing including Kal-liner and Kalzip plus 37 insulation (approx 2,500 sq m) and Liquid Plastics decothane inverted roofing system to the courtyard areas (green roofs) (approx 1,000 sq m).
We were included by Balfour Beatty in their design team meetings where interface details and buildability issues were discussed and agreed prior to start on site.
This time taken pre-start was well spent as the roofing package finished within time and budget, with relatively minor issues requiring to be resolved during construction (value circa £1.5m).

Client - Balfour Beatty Construction Ltd
A new build hospital by Balfour Beatty to serve the North side of Glasgow.
Our package included Sarnafil P.V.C. membrane roofing system with both cut-to-falls insulation and flat insulation to both metal and concrete decks. Our package included the metal decking (overall 8,500 sq m).
In addition the courtyard areas were waterproofed using the Liquid Plastics decothane inverted roofing system with slabs and ballast.
As with the Victoria Hospital project above, we were included by Balfour Beatty in their design team meetings where interface details and buildability issues were discussed and agreed prior to start on site.
Once again this time was proven to be well spent as the roofing package finished within time and budget, with relatively minor problems occuring during construction phase (value circa £1.2m).
